Playing in the mud!
Hello!
My name is Lucinda Howe; after our first meeting you will most likely call me Cindy :-)
I have a pottery studio in my home in the Denver metro area where I have been playing in clay for over 30 years! For a long time, I felt more like a technician with clay; I was skilled at “driving” the pottery wheel and getting most of the shapes I wanted. But, after I retired from teaching middle school in 2015, I dove headfirst in all things art; painting, drawing, printing, color theory, sculpting, and of course, clay. I’ve noticed how much my ceramics have changed, become more. I’ve begun thinking about the surface of each pottery piece as a blank canvas; whether it’s a mug, or bowl, or plate, or even a spoon rest.
I’m so inspired when learning and experimenting with new methods and materials; and then, working out how to combine it with ceramics. Right now, I love painting colorful flowers! Everywhere! On anything! They make me smile :-)
My wish for this journey is to create a little space in each of our days for peace, joy, and kindness, an opportunity for you and me to connect, from my hand to yours.
